I was born in 1960 and first licensed in January 1980 as DG9YAG.
In 1993 I upgraded to an HF restricted license (DH4FBC) and a few month later I have got the CEPT class 1 call sign DL3FDU. When it was possible to get vanity callsigns in Germany, I changed the call to DL3EL (February 2000).
Between 1980 and 1993 I was quite active in VHF/UHF contesting, since 1984 with the F-49 contest group from Frankfurt. In 1984, 1985 and 1987 we took part in the September IARU VHF Contests from De Panne, Belgium.
Since 1985 I am operating Packet Radio and in charge of the digipeater DB0AIS.
We are runnig a mailbox and a dx-cluster connected to that digipeater.
In 1996, 1997 and 1998 Patrick, DL5ZR, Felix, DL5XL and I went to
the home of Mustafa, TA3B in Izmir, to participate in the CQ WW WPX SSB Contest with the turkish special call YM3DL.
In 2000 I was a member of the RRDXA 4U1VIC Team.
In the past two decades I operated on several trips around Europe as GI5MRF, EI3VBK, ON9TB, ON9BBC, TK/DG9YAG, F/DG9YAG, EA/DG9YAG, HB9/DG9YAG, F/DH4FBC, LX/DL3FDU, ON/DL3FDU, TM6JUN, GW/DL3FDU, GM/DL3FDU, OZ/DL3FDU, SM/DL3FDU, LA/DL3FDU, LG5LG/SJ9WL, F/DL3FDU, HA/DL3FDU, TA3/DL3FDU, TA3ZJ, IK/DL3EL, HB9/DL3EL, HB0/DL3EL, OE/DL3EL, M/DL3EL, MM/DL3EL, IT9/DL3EL, CT/DL3EL, EA/DL3EL, S5/DL3EL, 9A/DL3EL and overseas as 9V1/DL3FDU, W2/DL3EL, W4/DL3EL, W6/DL3EL.
From 1988 until 1991 I worked in the digi mode committee of DARC
(Deutscher Amateur Radio Club, BUS Referat). Since 1990 I co-headed the committee. In that role I was a member of the DARC delegation at the 1990
IARU Region I conference in Torremolinos, Spain.
Since March 2001 I am a member of the advisory council for ADACOM e.V.
From May 2000 until May 2002 I was a member of the advisory council for the DARC subsidiaries.
From 1997 until 2005 I was Vicepresident of the Hessen Division ("Distrikt Hessen") of DARC. The division has nearly 4000
members in 75 local clubs and is the largest division within the DARC. From 2005 until 2011 I was President / Director of the division.
From 2008 until 2011 I was the speaker of the division Directors (Amateurrat).
